I often like these characters the most, not because they’re loveable but because of the complications they bring.
I would’ve liked more on her sister and the throne because I see possible conspiracy there. Her throne can be taken by anyone who kills her and that adds an extra element of suspense. Her fight for stability and respect is admirable and not something I typically think about with royalty. It’s such a stark difference from her mother that she is viewed as lesser. She strives to be kind and compassionate.
Lia Mara appears weak to her soldiers and those around her. It worked well bringing the books together for the conclusion. It took a bit to get into but then there were times I was flying through these pages. I liked having all four POV’s. I also didn’t like Lia Mara until this book.
